Anti-Harassment Policy
|
This anti-harassment policy applies to all events organized by the Chicago Doctor Who Meetup group. We also encourage you to review our member guidelines and online meetup etiquette.
The Chicago Doctor Who Meetup is dedicated to providing a fun, inclusive, and welcoming space at our events. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants or unwelcome behavior in any form. Event participants violating these rules may be expelled from the event, removed from the Meetup group, or otherwise sanctioned, without refund, at the discretion of the organizers or staff. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or other protected class status, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. (This also includes harassing behavior towards any of the Organizing team, service staff at appropriate venues, and partner organizations) Unwelcome behavior includes actions that disrupt an event, disturb fellow attendees, or disrespect the venue or Meetup Organizers. Participants who choose to drink alcohol at a Chicago Doctor Who Meetup event are responsible for staying within their limits and continuing to adhere by this policy. Participants asked to stop any harassing or unwelcome behavior are expected to comply immediately. Harassment of Meetup members online or in electronic venues will be treated as seriously as physical harassment. If a participant engages in harassing or unwelcome behavior, the organizers or staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the event with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Chicago Doctor Who Meetup organizing team immediately. The Meetup's Organizing team event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist so that those individuals experiencing harassment can feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and any related social events. This policy is based on the anti-harassment policy developed by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers for use by geek conferences. |
